Meet the Team: Jennifer Della Santa
Meet Jennifer: Our boho-chic director of design who pays attention
to detail and has a heart of gold. Get to know Jen!
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE HERE AT INGRID & ISABEL?
I am the Director of Design & Product Development at Ingrid & Isabel. I am responsible for leading the Design and Development team for Ingrid & Isabel as well as Isabel Maternity for Target.
LET'S DO AN ICE BREAKER! HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR EGGS? 🍳
My husband David makes the best eggs! My favorite way is scrambled with cream cheese. It’s his secret ingredient, which I suggested, but he mastered. 😉
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT YOU THINK ABOUT EVERYDAY AS A DIRECTOR OF DESIGN?
I think about moms every day and feel truly privileged to be able to do so. After I had my 2nd daughter, I asked my doula if it was normal for me to want to somehow still be a part of the “birth” community. Without having to change careers, I have been able to still be a part of that community. I love being able to connect with moms at such an important stage in her life.
WHAT ARE SOME MISCONCEPTIONS YOU DISLIKE THAT PEOPLE HAVE ABOUT WORKING IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?
That everyone who works in are just like the characters in “Devil wears Prada” and that it is really glamorous. I know there are some people who know me from growing up who think that I am really fancy. It just makes me laugh! I have in fact been truly blessed in my career to have gotten to travel quite a bit on international shopping and development trips. It’s definitely been a perk of my job and I have seen quite a few things I would not have been able to otherwise. That said, I am still the girl who grew up in a beach town in Virginia. I enjoy the simple pleasures of life the most.
AS A MOTHER, WHAT'S A PRODUCT/ITEM/SOLUTION/LIFE-HACK YOU WISH YOU GOT AHOLD OF DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?
I wish someone would invent a pillow or something that allows you to lay on your tummy while you are pregnant. I craved that so badly!! When we went on our babymoon, I dug a hole in the sand so I could sunbathe and lay on my stomach. It was the best feeling in the world and I wished I had been able to do that more often.
WHERE DO YOU SEE THE FASHION INDUSTRY HEADING IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?
Sustainability. It is something that everyone is talking about and striving for. Even big companies like Target.
WHAT'S YOUR MOTTO OR PERSONAL MANTRA?
Fear is a Liar.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH A FAMOUS PERSON IN HISTORY (CELEBRITY, HIGH PROFILE PERSON, LIVING OR DEAD) WHO WOULD IT BE?
Jesus. I have so many questions!!
