Setting Goals for 2019
by annie holdren
I always set extensive New Year Goals, but as a mom of 4 that works from home with very little childcare it is definitely a huge balancing act. Some days, I feel like I can take over the world while packing lunches, helping with homework, running to and from activities, all while being a wife, friend, daughter, PTO member, blogger of @manolosandminivans and much more.
OTHER DAYS, I feel like the evil villain in my children’s Disney movie and the only running I do is running ERRANDS. But with all that said, I know how important health and wellness is for me mentally, physically and emotionally. I always feel better, more patient and more clear headed when I complete a good, challenging workout or have a successful day of drinking water, eating a balanced diet and sleeping. I really do feel that sweating a little here and there is key! One other thing I swear by is SLEEP (ironic coming from a mom of 4, all under 8 years old) but when I don’t sleep I loose my mind ...and my patience.
I believe as a mother you are leading by example, so we eat a lot of vegetables at my home, I figure the more I prepare and share with my children, the more they will eat. I am sure to add at least 2 vegetables to every single meal. I also think it is very important to be active with my children, some activities we enjoy are playing together at the park (which can also couple as a great location to complete a quick workout as a mom), swimming together, playing tennis and going on walks.
So my #HappyEqualsHealthy goal for 2019 is not to try and do it all, but to focus on balance and reflect on what makes my heart happy. If it is not feeding my soul, or my body and mind, maybe it is time to make a change. In 2019, I will be focusing more time and effort on the things that make me feel good and feel complete. And my final goal is to sleep more, worry less. I wish you luck on your journey and hope 2019 brings you Happiness and Health. #HappyEqualsHealthy
